Thank You for Supporting Cal Athletics Scholarships

 

Cal Athletics annual Scholarship Banquet on January 31 in the Field Club at California Memorial Stadium was a festive celebration to honor the generosity of our scholarship supporters and the impact they have on providing well-rounded student-athlete experiences. Scholarship supporters, student-athletes, coaches and staff heard a variety of perspectives on the importance of scholarship support, including from Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton, Cal supporter Mark Edelstone, lacrosse head coach Brooke Eubanks, and football student-athlete Michael Saffell.
 

"This is really one of the best events we have all year long," said Brian Mann, Cal's Senior Associate Athletics Director and Chief Development Officer. "It brings together members from every corner of the Cal family. Providing scholarship support for our student-athletes is one of the most important things we do."

 

Saffell passionately conveyed the necessity for scholarship support in his banquet remarks.

 

"Without you, the Bear would quit and the Bear would die," Saffell said. "But with your everlasting support, and your generous ability to make an impact on the lives of young student-athletes, the Bear continues to fight in the classroom and on the field."
