Building a Legacy: Cal Beach Volleyball Receives Major Investment

Cal Beach Volleyball continues its upward trajectory thanks to a transformative gift that will impact the program for years to come. An anonymous donor generously committed a $1 million gift to establish a programmatic endowment, marking a pivotal moment in Beach Volleyball’s growth and long-term success.

This gift will directly support critical areas, including enhanced operating resources for team travel, gear, meals, and equipment, as well as resources for the new facility and locker room, student-athlete financial aid, coaches' compensation, and other essential program needs. Far from just a long-term investment, this gift affirms the program’s strength in the present.

“This endowment is made in celebration of our deep love for the sport of beach volleyball and the happiness it has brought into our lives,” said the donor. “Through this gift, we aim to support and strengthen Cal's Beach Volleyball Program for generations to come.”

"We are profoundly grateful for this transformative gift to Cal Beach Volleyball,” head coach Meagan Owusu said. “This gift is a powerful investment for the sustainable future of our program and the Golden Bears legacy. It ensures our student-athletes will continue to thrive—on the sand, in the classroom, and as leaders in life—for years to come.

With our new state-of-the-art facility opening in 2026, this gift couldn’t come at a more exciting time. We are honored by their belief in our mission and deeply thankful for their commitment to Cal."

Cal Beach Volleyball continues to make moves on the sand. This past season, the Golden Bears were 27-10, with an undefeated home record, and made it to the NCAA Championship for the fourth consecutive year. Collegiate beach volleyball is one of the fastest-growing NCAA sports, and this investment ensures the Golden Bears will have the resources they need to compete, grow, and thrive for generations to come.
